The cup of coffee that changed my life
Updated: Jun 11
Thankful today for CEO & Brand Architect, Kate DiLeo. When first meeting Kate at a Coffee & Closers event, I immediately felt a connection. I was curious about her work as a Brand Architect and she was kind enough to meet with me to share more about what she does. Little did I know this coffee meeting would ignite a fire that I never had in my roles in corporate America.
In our meeting, Kate asked me a very important question: “What do you love to do?” This made me think because what I loved doing was not what I was doing for a living. I described to her that I love creating social media posts and helping people tell their stories. Without skipping a beat she identified my strengths and offered to help me brand myself and what I do so I can do more of what I love. I was so nervous but then I remember the Richard Branson quote “If somebody offers you an amazing opportunity but you are not sure you can do it, say yes – then learn how to do it later!” So I said yes!
Leaving her office, I had butterflies in stomach. What did I do? What if I fail? What will my husband say? Yet, at the same time I could not stop smiling. This could change everything! I called my husband and he was so supportive and even said that he believes I will be great. And so, the last 2 months I have met with Kate and she helped me identify my brand, my services, and better yet how to communicate it with confidence to the world.
As the US paused with the COVID-19 pandemic, I saw it as an opportunity to accelerate my business plan. With the materials from Kate’s branding sessions, I was armed with everything I needed to launch my dream. Fueled by creativity, I spent all day and night building my own social media profiles and cannot be more excited to see what the rest of 2020 will bring.
Thank you, Kate.
